No, it costs nothing to have your products listed on PopShops, and we don't take commissions or percentages of your affiliates' sales. (You do, however, need a product datafeed and a relationship with an affiliate network.)
For the most part we limit ourselves to merchants that are associated with an existing affiliate network.
If you want a network with a low barrier to entry, ShareASale is a resource that may be able help you get your feed on PopShops quickly and inexpensively. Here is a PDF with the terms and costs associated with opening a ShareASale Merchant Account.
Another affordable network is LinkConnector, and we recently added PepperjamNETWORK. Of course, we also work with the "big three" networks: LinkShare, Commission Junction, and the Google Affiliate Network (formerly Performics).

Not really (though it depends on how you define "special"). You must have links that work (meaning they lead directly to the product advertised, not to the merchant's home page) and prices that are accurate. For best results your large images should be at least 200px by 200 px and you should include medium and small images as well. Ensure that you don't have HTML or other encoded characters in your descriptions and titles. See our data feed FAQ for more info.
PopShops is the largest database of affiliate products on the Internet. PopShops is where affiliates go to find niche products for their websites and blogs. If your feed is listed on PopShops, then your products are in the consideration set. Your affiliates have a simple, drag-and-drop, Web 2.0 tool that they can use to interact with your datafeed in new ways. Your affiliates can create widgets for blogs like TypePad and Blogger, build custom showcases, storefronts, and more. It boils down to this: by having your feed searchable within PopShops, affiliates are able to fill their niche sites with your products.
Here are a few ideas: newsletters, forums, forum signatures, and other correspondence (we recently saw an auto-response that mentioned us!)--we're happy to supply an informative blurb for you to pass on. We can also set you up with customized demo pages that display your site's products.
So that we can be a neutral third party, PopShops does not accept advertising from merchants. If you want to reach the thousands of affiliates who use PopShops, however, consider incentives like coupons, contests, or other special offers. We are happy to let our users know about any programs or offers that are exclusive to them.
