An affiliate introduces customers to a merchant's products or services in exchange for a commission. An affiliate is usually paid the commission when a website visitor buys a product or signs up for a service.
On PopShops, affiliates create showcases for products they want to promote. You place the showcases on your website. If a site visitor clicks the product link in the showcase, and subsequently makes a purchase from the merchant's website, you are paid a commission. The commission amount depends on the merchant.
A merchant is a company that has products to sell through the affiliate channel. For example, Amazon.com and Buy.com are merchants. Affiliates promote these merchants in exchange for a commission.
An affiliate network is a trusted third party that provides tracking for affiliate transactions for multiple merchants. Affiliate networks also provide a variety of services to merchants and affiliates. Affiliates might provide analytics tools and technical support. They might also distribute commissions to affiliates.

PopShops is not involved in your relationship with merchants and affiliate networks. You sign up with the merchant through its affiliate network. For example, if you wish to sign up with Buy.com, you would sign up through its affiliate network, Commission Junction.
Some merchants, such as Amazon.com, provide independent affiliate programs. To join an independent program, you sign up directly with the merchant.
We can link you to the appropriate networks and we' ll give you all of the help that we can, but you must apply through the specific networks and agree to the terms of both the networks and the merchants.
No. Join only the networks that have merchants and products which are of interest to you and your site visitors.
You can browse the PopShops merchant and product listings and find the products that you wish to promote. You'll need to join the networks, and sign up with the merchants, that offer the products you place in your shop. After you join a new network, always remember to add your affiliate ID to Your Account page.
You can log in to that merchant's network and check. The actual process differs among networks. Most networks provide a list of active programs that you can check.
You need to be approved for both the affiliate network and the individual merchants to earn commissions. You need to file your affiliate IDs with PopShops so we can create the proper links for your shop products. Verifying that you have valid affiliate IDs and merchant approvals is part of your relationship with the affiliate network and merchants. We cannot verify the validity of your affiliate IDs or merchant relationships.
If you don't file valid affiliate IDs for your shop products, then the links for those products will not work.
If you are not an active affiliate of the product merchant, then you will not get commissions. You will be promoting that merchant for free.
Your sales and commissions are confidential and are part of your relationship with the affiliate networks and merchants. You track them through the individual network and merchant programs. The process differs from network to network.
You can do that on the Your Account page. Or, you can click on a color-coded network icon next to the merchant name in the merchant browser and the network information will pop up. From there, you can join or add your network ID.
Yes. If you click on the color-coded network icon next to the merchant name in the merchant browser, you will see the information that will help you join that particular merchant.
